How do I play ISO games?

An ISO game can be played by using a program to open ISO files. This usually involves writing the ISO game directly onto a disc and running it from a CD-ROM or using a virtual mount.

Most CD burning software (such as Nero) will allow you to burn an ISO onto a CD. The ISO can then be run straight from the CD-ROM. The other method involves creating a virtual drive on the computer and using the drive to open the ISO. The virtual drive emulates a CD-ROM (called virtual mounting) and the computer reads the file. One advantage of using virtual mounting is that it saves wear and tear on CD-ROMs. Other advantages include faster operating, as it is running directly from the computer, quieter operation and it is easier to create back-up ISO files.
