It is not possible to call a phone number from the number itself, but caller ID spoofing can make it appear as if a phone is getting a call from its own number. People who receive phone calls from their own numbers should look out for scams.

What happens when people dial their own numbers varies based on the type of phone and service; some systems produce busy tones, while others, such as Google Voice, connect the dialer to the phone number's voicemail.
