What are power splitters?
By Forinfos - 27/07/2025 - 0 comments
Power splitters or power dividers are electrical units that split a single signal or power charge into two separate charges. Each split charge has half the power of the original signal.
A power splitter is commonly referred to as the Wilkinson power splitter, after its inventor Ernest Wilkinson. Apart from splitting signals, a power splitter also combines two equal phase signals into one opposite single signal. A resister in the splitter allows all three ports to be matched. Additionally, it does not add resistive loss to the power split from the original port and completely isolates the power in the two additional ports at the center frequency where it splits.
