Precordial catch syndrome causes chest pain that typically lasts from one to three minutes and worsens during deep breathing, according to Right Diagnosis. It is totally harmless and can occur rarely or up to several times throughout the course of a day.
Right Diagnosis explains that while precordial catch syndrome most often occurs in children and teenagers, adults can be affected as well. According to Wikipedia, there is no known cure or treatment for precordial catch syndrome, as of 2014. The pain it causes usually originates on the left side of the chest, is localized and does not radiate out the way pain caused by a heart attack does.
