The President of the United States' salary is set in the United States Code. Congress has the power to change the President's salary and other forms of compensation.
As of 2015, the President's salary is $400,000 per year. He also receives $50,000 per year for expenses, $100,000 for travel, and $19,000 for entertainment. In the event that the President does not spend all of these expense allowances, the remaining money is returned annually to the Department of Treasury. The President also receives nonmonetary compensation, in that he is entitled to use facilities such as the White House, Blair House and Camp David.
