What are some facts about President William Taft?

William Howard Taft served as the 27th president of the United States and later as the 10th chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, making him the only person as of 2015 to hold both positions. He was also secretary of war under President Theodore Roosevelt.

Taft's many other accomplishments include being a lawyer, a judge, a law professor and governor general of the Philippines. He also was the first president to use the Oval Office and the first to have a presidential car.

Born on Sept. 15, 1857, Taft graduated from Yale University and the Cincinnati College of Law. He and his wife, Nellie, had three children. He died on March 8, 1930, and was the first president buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
