How do you prevent scarring after stitches?
By Forinfos - 19/05/2026 - 0 comments
Proper wound care after stitches reduces the chance of scarring, according to WebMD. Some people are more prone to scarring, and certain areas of the body are more susceptible to forming scars, despite quality wound care.
After stitches, the patient should take care to keep the wounded area clean, and resist picking or rubbing that may irritate the wound, advises WebMD. A scar may still form, particularly if the area is pulled frequently during movement. For example, the chest, back and arms are more prone to scarring due to movement during healing. Inhibit upper body exercise and heavy lifting as the wound heals to prevent scarring.
