How does the price of ultra-light sheetrock compare to standard drywall?

The Home Depot offers Sheetrock brand UltraLight gypsum board for the same price as plain Sheetrock-brand gypsum board, as of March 2015. Both boards measure 4 feet by 8 feet. The UltraLight board is 1/2-inch thick, while the standard board is 3/8 inch.
Although priced the same, UltraLight gypsum board has some benefits over standard drywall. The UltraLight board weighs less and is more durable than a typical board. Because of its increased durability, it can be used on ceilings as well as walls. This allows more scraps to be used, reducing waste. It is also easier to manage without a large team and less likely to cause injury.
