The bottom 10 percent of baseball scouts earned less than $17,210 in 2012, and the highest 10 percent made more than $65,910. Scouts and coaches in Arkansas had the highest median wage at $45,800 per year, while those in Maine made a median wage of $18,100. MLB scouts for Florida's St. Petersburg College earned between $15,000 and $100,000, based on experience, skill and the scout’s record of discovering great players. Major League Baseball teams each hire their own talent and advance scouts.
