How do you put an Android device on airplane mode?

The best way is to activate airplane mode on an Android device is through the settings of the phone. Doing so takes just a few minutes.

1. Go to the Settings menu

   From the home screen of the device, select the Menu button. Scroll to Settings, and tap to open the settings menu. Depending on the device or version of Android, the selections may be slightly different.

2. Activate airplane mode

   From the settings menu, select Connections or Wireless Networks. In this menu, tap on More Networks or "More. At the top of the screen, check the box that says Airplane Mode or Flight Mode. A prompt appears asking if you want to turn on airplane mode. Select OK. Press the home key to return to the home screen.

3. Verify airplane mode

   Once airplane mode is turned on, the signal bars change from bars to an image of an airplane. To verify the phone is in airplane mode, attempt to connect to a web site through the browser, make a call, or send a text message. If any of these fail, then the phone is successfully in airplane mode.
