How do you put in eye drops?

To put in eye drops, thoroughly clean your hands with soap and water. With the eye drops in one hand, sit or lie down. Carefully pull your lower eye lid down, and gently squeeze one drop into your exposed lower lid. Wipe away excess eye drop fluid with a tissue.

1. Wash your hands

   Thoroughly sterilize your hands with antibacterial soap and warm water. Dry with a clean towel.

2. Position your body

   Prepare for the eye drops by sitting or laying down on your bed or couch.

3. Prepare your head

   Tilt your head back, and glance toward the ceiling. While holding the eye drops in one hand, pull down your lower eye lid with the other hand.

4. Apply the eye drops

   While the bottom portion of your eye is exposed, gently squeeze the eye drop container to place one small drop in the eye. Review the eye drop application instructions for dosage amounts.

5. Wipe away the excess

   Immediately blink your eye, and wipe away excess liquid with a tissue. Do not tightly squeeze your eyes shut.

6. Repeat in the other eye

   If necessary, repeat the process in your other eye.

7. Clean your hands

   Immediately after applying the eye drops, wash your hands with soap and water to clean away medicine residue.
