How do you put a vacation hold on your mail with the USPS?

Put a vacation hold on mail using a designated form provided by the U.S. Postal Service. Forms can be filled out and filed online or in person at any post office branch.

1. Obtain a hold form

   Place a mail hold using PS Form 8076. A digital copy of this form can be found on the U.S. Postal Service website, and paper copies are available at the post office.

2. Fill out your address information

   The first section of the form is for personal information. Fill in all the required boxes.

3. Choose the hold dates

   In the second section of the form, indicate the dates you want the post office to start and stop holding mail. Mail can be held for any length of time between three and 30 days.
