Do rabbits hibernate in the winter?

Rabbits do not hibernate in the winter, but in extreme cold, they often seek shelter by burrowing into snow drifts. Rabbits generally behave the same throughout the year. They are active at dawn and dusk, and when it's time to rest, they do so in a burrow or under vegetation.

While rabbits' sleep and activity habits remain the same throughout all seasons, their diets change during the winter months. During the spring, summer and fall, rabbits eat flowers, grass, clovers, farm crops and other green vegetation. In the winter, they eat bark, buds, twigs and any type of green plant available.
