Green eyes are the rarest in the world with only around 2 percent of the population having green eyes. Green eyes are sometimes mistaken for hazel eyes.
Green eyes are caused by a small amount of pigment with a golden tint and are most often found in northern and central Europe and western Asian cultures.
Brown eyes are the most common in the world. An estimated 55 percent of the world's population has brown eyes and, in some people, the eyes are so dark that they appear black. Around 8 percent of the world's population has blue eyes and between 5 and 8 percent of people have hazel eyes.
