Rashes are a possible symptom of celiac disease, according to WebMD. These rashes are called dermatitis herpetiformis and manifest as itchy blisters on multiple parts of the body. Treatment for rashes include medications and diet changes.
Around 15 to 25 percent of patients with celiac disease experience dermatitis herpetiformis rashes, with rashes typically first occurring during the teenage years, according to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness. Rashes occur more commonly on men with celiac disease than women. These rashes can occur on the back, knees, elbows, buttocks and scalp. As an autoimmune disorder, untreated rashes from dermatitis herpetiformis can develop into cancer.
