As of 2010, some reasons for Tylenol recalls include possible bacterial contamination by a "gram negative" microorganism, and poor conditions such as a dirty manufacturing plant during the making of the drugs, states ABC News. The exact reasons for Tylenol recalls depend on the situation and time of the recall.

Tylenol’s parent company, Johnson & Johnson, recalled 43 different brands that included Tylenol, Motrin and other products, reports ABC News. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reasoned that the manufacturing plant of the product used a known contaminant material during the drug-making process.

No injury or reported deaths took place, explains WebMD. Consumers that purchased these products, such as the infant liquid formulations of Tylenol, could receive refunds or product replacement.
