Redken Color Gels are a professional line of permanent conditioning hair color by the salon services company Redken. The gels' 100 percent oxidative and UV-stable dye contains wheat proteins and avocado oil to provide long-lasting color that makes hair soft and shiny.
Redken was established by actress Paula Kent and her hairdresser, Jheri Redding, in 1960. Kent's sensitive skin developed allergic reactions due to the cosmetics used on her acting sets, and she was thus inspired to create a product line based on healthy principles. Kent started the company with $3,000 that she had earned from her appearance in a beer commercial.
