What is a Remington 11-87?

The Remington 11-87 is a semiautomatic shotgun made by American gun manufacturer Remington Arms. It is based on the Remington 1100 and was introduced in 1987.

The distinguishing feature of the 11-87 is its gas system design that allows the gun to operate with every type of load without any shooter adjustments. The gas system forces high-pressure gases from the burning gunpowder to be diverted through small holes in the underside of the barrel, driving a piston toward the rear of the shotgun and ejecting the spent shell. This gas operation spreads out the energy of the firing action and reduces the gun's recoil.
