To remove candle wax from crystal, gently scrape away the excess wax, immerse in hot water to soften the stuck-on wax, use a delicate sponge to wipe wax from any crevasses on the crystal, and wash in warm, sudsy water. Avoid pouring melted wax down the drain to prevent clogs.
- Scrape away excess wax
Remove the candle from the holder, and allow the wax to cool so it hardens. Use a plastic butter knife or other soft blunt object to lift the excess wax, and peel it gently from the crystal. Avoid scratching the crystal.
- Immerse in hot water
Place the crystal in a container of hot water to soften any wax.
- Scrub the crevasses
Use a delicate sponge or brush to reach into any crevasses on the crystal, and remove any remaining wax.
- Wash in soapy water
Move the crystal to a tub of warm soapy water. Wash and rinse the crystal. Dry the crystal with a soft towel to prevent water spots.
- Prevent a larger problem
Do not pour the water containing melted wax down the drain. The wax hardens and forms a plug that is difficult to remove. Allow the water to cool, and remove the hardened wax that floats to the top before discarding the water.
