What are the requirements for a typical voiceover audition?

Typical voiceover auditions require voice actors to each read the same script in front of a casting director. Voice actors should bring a voice demo tape, rather than a headshot, to the audition, as the main focus of the audition is on the actor's voice.
One of the most important aspects of being successful in a voiceover audition is the ability to create a character and show off a unique, energetic voice. Voice actors who have monotone voices, lack inflection in their voices, or have unclear or stiff speech are less likely to pass the audition. To best prepare for a voiceover audition, warm up and practice before the audition, arrive to the audition early to spend a lot of time looking over the script, and drink water beforehand to minimize dry mouth.
