Rick Bragg is married to Dianne Bragg as of 2015, and they have been married since 2005. Rick is stepfather to Dianne's young son, Jake, who was 10 when they got married.

Bragg is a professor of writing at the University of Alabama, but is on the road a lot for his book tours and literary festivals in various states across the country. He and his family live in Fairhope, Alabama, and sometimes split their time at a farm in the Appalachian foothills. Bragg's books feature stories about his life and one of them, "The Prince of Frogtown," specifically has stories about his marriage and becoming a father to his stepson.
