"Robert's Rules of Order" is a guide of the protocols and procedures used by businesses and organizations to effectively run a meeting. Originally called "Pocket Manual of Rules of Order for Deliberative Assemblies," it was written and first published by Brig. Gen. Henry Martyn Robert in 1876.
"Robert's Rules of Order" is based off of parliamentary law, and offers strict guidelines on such topics as how to lead a debate, propose, second, and vote on a motion, recognize a speaker, and how to form and run a committee. It has been revised several times throughout its history, most recently in 2011.
