What is rubidium fluoride?
By Forinfos - 18/03/2026 - 0 comments
Rubidium fluoride is a compound with the molecular formula RbF. It is a white, crystalline solid with a six-coordinate octahedral geometry. The element percentage of RbF is 81.81 percent rubidium and 18.19 percent fluoride.
There are several ways to make rubidium fluoride. The hydroxide can react with hydrofluoric acid. The resulting salt is purified by recrystallization. Another method is to neutralize rubidium (I) carbonate with hydrofluoric acid before purifying the resulting salt by recrystallization. This process yields rubidium (I) and is performed in a platinum vessel to avoid HF reacting with glass. Finally, rubidium metals react with all halogens to form rubidium halides.
