The credit limit on the First Premier Bank card is $300 for new customers. Because it also charges a $75 annual fee, the effective available credit during the first year of owning the card is $225, according to Ask Mr. Credit Card.

The bank also charges a 50 percent fee on any approved credit limit increases and a $95 application fee. In 2015, the bank filed a lawsuit requesting a gag order against CardHub.com, a credit card review website that had been critical of its products. It later dropped the suit. First Premier Bank has also been sued by the Federal Trade Commission for unethical marketing practices, according to the agency.
