Saab automobiles and parts are manufactured in a plant located in Trollhattan in western Sweden. The factory is the only production facility for the automaker.
The Saab plant was originally constructed to manufacture aircraft. Saab began building fighters and bombers for the Royal Swedish Air Force in the late 1930s during World War II. Once the war had concluded, the company began manufacturing cars, a switch that required major plant remodeling. The aerodynamic automobile caught on with consumers throughout the world who were in search of a unique car. Over the years, the factory has undergone a number of major renovations to allow it to produce increasingly modern vehicles and parts.
