Has satellite TV been made illegal in Iran?
By Forinfos - 18/02/2025 - 0 comments
Satellite TV is illegal in Iran as of 2015 due to a media ban put in place by the Iranian government in 2014. The ban on satellite TV has not stopped those in Iran from putting up satellite dishes on the roofs of their residence.
The Iranian police forces have periodically enforced the ban by confiscating satellite dishes that are privately owned. The satellite dishes in Iran are used to watch foreign programming that the Iran government has banned due to unsuitable content. The censorship mandated by the Iranian government covers television programs, radio programs, printed media, films and the Internet as well as other media outlets.
