In 2004, CBS aired a documentary that featured photographs of Diana, Princess of Wales, laying fatally injured after the car wreck which killed her. These photographs proved to be highly controversial, with many people believing that it was insensitive and inappropriate to broadcast pictures of the dying Princess.
According to BBC News, CBS stated that the photos were "in no way graphic or exploitative." However, many people disagreed. Mohammed al-Fayed, whose son Dodi died in the crash, described CBS's actions as "disgraceful and insensitive." Many people at the time expressed disgust at the broadcasting of the photographs, which they believed to be an invasion of privacy.
