CAMEO Chemicals states that manganese nitrate is a crystalline solid, which is white in color. Its chemical formula is Mn(NO3)2. It is produced by dissolving manganese (II) carbonate in a diluted nitric acid. This inorganic compound can ignite with organic matter, and it is denser than water.
It is soluble in water and a strong oxidizing agent, and it is used in industry to make other chemicals. It belongs to nitrate and nitrite inorganic compounds group, according to American Elements.
Manganese nitrate irritates eyes, mucous membrane and skin, and it is toxic when inhaled or ingested. When in vapor form, it can cause burns, death or severe injury.
