The tissue that lines the trachea is epithelial tissue. Epithelial tissues line the cavities and flat surfaces inside the human body. The epithelial tissue is one of the four tissue types found within the human body.
Of the four tissue types inside the bodies of humans, the epithelial tissue is the most prolific. The other tissue types include connective tissue, muscle tissue and nervous tissue.
Ciliated columnar epithelial cells line the tracheal, bronchial and the pulmonary systems in humans. It is also in the fallopian tubes in females. These epithelial cells have cilia. Cilia are hair-like protrusions on the rectangular shaped epithelial cell.
