What is a scientific model?

A scientific model serves as a conceptual or smaller model of a real-life phenomenon used for analysis and observation. The smaller model makes it easier to test hypothesis and predict behavior.

Scientists use three-dimensional scientific modeling to recreate DNA, which helps them visualize the system and as a result, collect experimental data. Predictive models are another type, which are commonly used for weather forecasting. They can also be used to predict what may occur when a disease spreads. Predictive models can also be used as a warning system for natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis and other large-scale disasters, such as epidemics.
