What are the scope and limitations in a thesis?

In a thesis, the scope is how widespread the study is, while the limitations are aspects that the researcher cannot control. For example, if the study covers a population of a species, that specific population is the scope. If the researcher has a bias, then this is a limitation.
The location of the study's participants is an example of a geographical scope. If items of a certain size are being studied, then their size is another type of scope.
Limitations should always be identified and taken into consideration. If there are doubts concerning an instrument's ability to provide accurate measurements, then this is a limitation. A weakness in the study's design is another limitation.
