How do you search for books by author name?

Use a library catalog to search for books by author's name. The vast majority of libraries allow users to search for books both in person at library locations and online through the library website.

In order to search books, visit the library's online catalog and choose the option that allows searching by author. Type in the author's last name and first initial or first name in the search box. Search the catalog to see a list of books by that author as well as basic information about them such as date of publication and edition. It is also possible to check whether the library has the book available for checkout.
