What are the seasonal winds called in India?

In India, seasonal winds that bring in moisture from the sea are referred to as the monsoon. Monsoon season begins in June and ends in September, according to PBS Online.
Although monsoon winds may cause flooding in some towns, people and animals rely on the monsoon to bring much-needed rain to India. The heavy rains nourish crops and ensure there is enough food to eat in the coming year. Macaques, a type of monkey, do not have enough food to eat if the monsoon winds do not spur the growth of seeds and tropical fruits.
India receives as much as 90 percent of its annual precipitation during monsoon season, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
