A Securus inmate telephone account is prepaid by an inmate's connections outside the detention facility, and it lets inmates make phone calls from participating jails and prisons. There are several plans available, all of which require the establishment of an account with Securus online by the person who will fund it.

As of 2015, account options include a prepaid AdvanceConnect plan that lets people fund accounts as needed and Direct Bill, which allows the person funding the account to be billed directly for phone service for a particular detainee. Securus also offers Traditional Collect, which allows inmates to call individuals collect and have the charges attached to a local phone bill.
