How do you send a text from a computer?

You can send a text via your email client by including the phone number and service provider of the person you are texting. On a phone, the sender of the text appears as your email address.

1. Address the text

   On the email address line, type the recipient's nine-digit phone number, followed by the @ symbol. Then type the appropriate name of their cell service provider, which is found on the official company website. For example, Verizon uses "vtext.com" and Sprint uses "messaging.sprintpcs.com."

2. Type the text

   Write the text you want to send in the body of the email. Keep character limits imposed by cell phones in mind when composing the text.

3. Send the text

   Hit the Send button on the email. This transmits the text to the recipient's phone.
