Square face shapes are very well suited for medium-length hairstyles with lots of layers. However, layers can accentuate any face shape, depending on where they are placed.

All face shapes are different, and layers have the unique capability of framing any of them. The trick to choosing a haircut with layers is deciding where the placement of the layers will be. Adding layers is useful if they are placed in whatever area the person needs more volume, or any area that needs accentuating. If the face is longer than it is wide, layers can widen the face. If the forehead is wide and the jaw line is thin, layers can thicken out the jaw line.
