The Spanish expedition that Balboa joined to South America consisted of two ships, the Santa Maria and the San Anton. Balboa made other expeditions, but the names of the ships are uncertain.
The Spanish expedition Balboa joined in 1501 gathered treasure, but the two ships were sunk in 1503 due to the damage previously caused by teredo worms. The ships were too damaged and could not survive the storm, so they sunk, and part of the treasure they had gathered was lost. During a later expedition, Balboa sailed on a boat called the Rolling Wind, but the year of that expedition is uncertain.
