Dr. Pepper contains phosphoric acid, which can cause bone calcium reduction and kidney issues if consumed in excess. Sodium benzoate is also in Dr. Pepper, which could cause behavioral problems in children.
Dr. Pepper contains caramel color as well. This ingredient is usually made from sugar, but when produced in large amounts, ammonia is used to produce caramel color. Ammonia at elevated temperatures creates the cancer causing agents 2-Methylimidazole and 4-Methylimidazole. The soft drink also contains caffeine. Caffeine can become toxic to the body when consumed in large amounts. Side effects include tremors, seizures, anxiety and an altered mental state.
