What are the side effects of using moringa?

Although moringa fruit, leaves and seeds are thought to be safe to eat, moringa root contains a toxic substance that can cause miscarriage, paralysis or even death. WebMD advises that pregnant women avoid eating any part of the moringa plant as there is insufficient evidence for its safety during pregnancy.
According to WebMD, studies have shown that eating up to 6 grams of moringa per day for up to three weeks is safe. Not enough research has been done to determine whether larger doses are safe. Moringa roots, bark and flowers contain a chemical that makes the uterus contract, so these parts of the plant can cause miscarriage in pregnant women.
