What is a side-by-side refrigerator?

A side-by-side refrigerator has a freezer section on the left and a refrigerator section on the right, instead of the traditional top and bottom configuration. These doors run the entire length of the fridge.

Side-by-side fridges have several advantages over refrigerators of different styles. Most food is easily within reach, unlike fridges with the freezer across the bottom or top. Many side-by-side fridges have a filtered water and ice dispenser in the freezer door, a feature much less available in fridges of other styles.

There are a number of factors to keep in mind when buying a side-by-side fridge. These include capacity, adaptability of storage, energy and warranty, and the ability to get support when needed.
