The SIG P226 is a pistol designed by the SIG SAUER company. Intended to replace the 1911, the P226 is used by law enforcement agencies such as the Michigan State Police, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Texas Rangers, as well as U.S. Navy SEALS. It weighs 36 ounces.

Available in 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG, the pistol is well-balanced, ergonomic and easy to handle. The pistol's longer barrel allows for improved accuracy and ballistic performance. Like other classic SIG pistols, the SIG P226 utilizes the locked breech short recoil method that was developed by John Browning. As of 2014, the MSRP for the SIG P226 is $1,015.00
