What are the signs and symptoms of DVT?

Common signs and symptoms of deep vein thrombosis include swelling of the leg, pain and tenderness in the leg, and warmth of the skin of the affected leg, according to WebMD. Leg fatigue, visible surface veins and discoloration of the leg may also occur.
Often, the signs of DVT mimic other conditions, which can make it difficult to diagnose, notes WebMD. To diagnose deep vein thrombosis, more than one test is needed to rule out other conditions. DVT most commonly occurs in the calf or thigh muscle. The blood clot may partially or completely block blood flow. When a blot clot breaks free and travels to the lungs, potentially fatal pulmonary embolism may occur.
