What is the size of a standard red brick?

A standard red brick is 3 5/8 inches deep, 2 1/4 inches high and 8 inches long. It is also 4 1/2 lbs., making it larger than a modular brick and smaller than a jumbo modular brick.

Manufacturers sometimes make bricks in different sizes, based upon their own specifications. The standard sizes, however, come from the Brick Industry Association.

Bricks are made for different purposes. Building bricks are structural and have holes in them, and face bricks are solid and visible on the outside of the structure. Bricks also come as firebricks, pavers, antique brick and brick veneer.
