Are sloths endangered animals?

Some sloth species are endangered while others are "of least concern," according to the World Wildlife Federation. Two sloths fall into the endangered category: the maned sloth and the pygmy sloth. Efforts are being made to increase their populations as of 2015.

Sloths are very slow-moving animals that eat things like twigs and leaves, rarely leaving the comfort of their trees. They only move around 120 feet each day and spend between 15 and 20 hours of each day asleep.

Other, less vulnerable sloth species include the pale-throated sloth, Hoffman's two-toed sloth and the brown-throated sloth.

Sloths live in the trees of the Amazon rain forest and, despite their laziness, are excellent swimmers.
