Do sloths walk on the ground?

Sloths have giant claws that do not allow them to walk on the ground. Instead, they have to crawl on their bellies and pull themselves along using their claws. Sloths spend most of their time hanging in trees, where their claws help them cling to branches.
Sloths only leave the rainforest treetops about once a week to urinate and defecate. All other activities take place while hanging in the trees. Sloths eat fruit and leaves that are found in the trees. They mate while hanging in the trees, and when a sloth baby is born, it hooks its claws into its mother's chest hair and holds on while she hangs in the trees.
