Snapchat is a mobile-based application that is only available on Android and iOS devices. The application is available for free from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Snapchat utilizes the inbuilt cameras of smartphones to take pictures and record videos referred to as "snaps." The snaps sent via the application are no longer visible to the recipient after a set time limit expires. However, recipients can use screen shots or secondary cameras to capture the image. The sender of the snap has the option of saving the video or image to the mobile device or automatically deleting it once it has been sent.
