When does it snow in Gatlinburg?

Although it is impossible to tell exactly when it will snow in Gatlinburg, Tenn., it is most likely to occur between the months of December and April. Snows in November are also likely.

Gatlinburg is located in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. Due to the mountain climate, temperatures tend to be cooler, which means that winters can be longer than in lower elevations. Temperatures usually begin dipping into the freezing range in mid to late November and remain cool enough to produce snow or a mix of snow and rain until April. On occasion, Gatlinburg may see its first snow before December and as early as October. However, this is not typical of the climate.
