What are the social classes of modern Egypt?

The social classes in modern Egypt are upper, middle and lower. They are of considerable importance in Egyptian society. The middle class has tended to be small in cities, and the more significant and politically influential in rural areas.
The rural middle class was historically supportive of Mubarak's leadership; however as younger generations moved to the cities, the influence of the rural middle class dwindled.
In modern Egypt, social class has more to do with a person's family than with how much money the person has. As a result, it is extremely difficult for people to move from one class to another or enhance the opportunities available to them.
