As of 2015, an eligible individual could receive a maximum of $733 per month while an eligible couple could receive a maximum of $1,100. In 2015, the monthly pay increased by 1.7 percent from 2014.
Social Security is a government enacted program that removes taxes from an individual's pay for future disbursement during retirement age. The program began in 1935 and has undergone numerous changes throughout the years.
