What is the Soldier's Creed?

The Soldier’s Creed is a statement of standards or a pledge by which all Army personnel strive to abide and uphold. It is a statement that an enlistee learns during basic training and must recite upon graduation, which confirms his obligation to maintain Army values of loyalty and sacrifice.

The creed states the soldier’s position as a soldier for the United States who is a member of a team and who has a responsibility to the citizens of the United States. The creed goes on to list a set of professional standards of conduct and preparedness by which the ideals are upheld, such as always placing a mission first, never leaving behind a fallen comrade and never accepting defeat.
